If you've never seen the Jim Carrey movie The Truman Show you should check it out on Netflix. When you get to the scene where Truman tries to escape by jumping in the car and driving away, pay attention. You've just entered the Florida zone. It's a lot like the Twilight Zone only more frustrating. Just when you've finally gotten around that slow driver with the perpetual left blinker on; you can see the next slow moving car pulling out right in front of you.
When you enter the zone there is only one thing to do. Accept your fate. Helpful suggestions to overcome road rage are as follows...breathe...deep, slow breaths. And this suggestion is one that will help in all aggravating, frustrating, depressing... situations. Think of it as a general tip to improve any situation. "Look for beauty." In Florida it is easy to do. Clouds in the sky. A sunrise/sunset. Birds roosting in the trees. The list is endless. But focusing and appreciating a moment of beauty takes your focus off of the stupidity in front of you.
